Five security forces including senior officers were killed today in another series of terrorist attacks in Iraq.
Police Brigadier General Nadhim Tayeh was killed when gunmen opened fire on his car in central Baghdad. An army colonel died during a bombing later in the day.
Three policemen were killed and six wounded in Kirkuk during a series of bomb attacks. Al-Qaeda related terrorists have been targeting security forces and military forces in Baghdad and surrounding cities.
Over 270 people have been killed in August, already surpassing the total of 240 in July. Al-Qaeda has been connected to most of the attacks including confirmation of their involvement in a July 23rd assault that killed 107 civilians and policeman.
