Massive 8.2 Quake Rattles Eastern Russia

Luke 21:11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

The eastern coast of Russia was struck with a massive earthquake Friday that could be felt over 4,000 miles from the epicenter.

The Russian Academy of Sciences reported the quake, which centered in the Sea of Okhotsk, as magnitude 8.0. The U.S. Geological Survey later reported the quake as 8.2 on the Richter scale. The epicenter is located on the Kuril-Kamchatka arc which is one of the most active seismic locations in the world.

The quake resulted in a tsunami warning for the area immediately surrounding the epicenter but removed it a short time later when no tsunami waves could be spotted.

The quake was so intense that residents in the Kamchatka peninsula felt the ground shaking for five minutes. Residents ran into the streets and school children were rushed from schools into sturdy cover.

In Moscow, 4,400 miles from the epicenter, some buildings were evacuated because of tremors. It was the first time since 1977 that an quake was felt in the Russian capital.

Scientists say the quake centered 375 miles under the sea bed which contributed to the distance the quake could be felt.

  1. Hello, we drove up from Texas last week and came out to Morningside. So fun to see what I look at on TV all the time. Bought some things in the giftshop including the salba chips and salsa. They were so good we ate them up in 1 1/2 days! It is so pretty up by Table Rock lake. We may just move up there in a year or so. Had a great time. Teresa

    Last night, here in Sacramento, California a 5.7 shaker was felt with the epicenter in Greenville, California.
    I went to bed last night to the radio reports of 37 after-shocks.
    This morning, I awoke to the radio report of over 100 after-shocks.

    The people reporting this Greenville EQ are very disturbed & repeatedly state that this is an unusual event. All I can think is –welcome into the book of Revelation.
