Major Islamic Terrorist Leader Questioned in Somalia

Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).

Somalian intelligence officials confirmed that one of the leaders of the Islamic terrorist group Al-Shabab is in custody and is answering questions.

Officials took Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys to a government intelligence base after he either surrendered or defected to the government’s forces. Local officials say that he was fleeing in-fighting among the terrorist group that has caused significant fractures in the terror group’s command structure.

Aweys has been on the terrorist lists of both the UN and the U.S.

The government has not confirmed rumors that Aweys came in as a result of an offer of amnesty. He has been called the “elder statesman” of Islamic extremists in Somalia and has been on the terrorist watch list since shortly after the 9/11 attacks.

The terrorist organization has been on the run since African Union forces drove them out of strongholds in major cities and lost control of the major seaport of Kismayo.
