Islamist Attempts To Kill Somalian President & Prime Minister

Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).

Two security guards were killed and another wounded when an ex-Islamist militant, recently fired from a job with the government, blew himself up at a checkpoint in the Somali President’s compound.

Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon was unhurt in the attack. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is out of the country.

The president and prime minister of the country took office in September after what had been considered the first fair poll in Somalia in 42 years. Al-Qaeda militants had tried to maintain control of the country but have lost major towns in the last 18 months.

Al-Shabab, an al-Qaeda affiliate group, still controls parts of central Somalia but has been losing ground in southern Somalia.

On a positive note, the United Nations World Food Program has resumed distributing food in Kismayo for the first time in four years.
