Zechariah 7:10 ESV “Do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.”

Shabir Ahmed, one of nine men charged with human trafficking and slavery of children in Liverpool, England, has been given an additional 22 year prison term after being convicted of additional charges.

Ahmed had previously been sentenced to 19 years on charges kept under seal due to continuing investigations. The sentences will run concurrently.

Ahmed was initially convicted of raping and abusing a girl for more than a decade. The jury was shown that Ahmed treated his victim as a “possession” and she had been raped on “an almost weekly basis.”

In addition to the conviction on the kidnapping, captivity and rape, Ahmed was convicted of raping, assaulting and trafficking girls as young as 13 for work in take-out restaurants. The man’s scheme was brought down when his victim escaped and came forward to authorities. She testified in open court against her captor to secure his conviction.

Nine men have been arrested in connection with the trafficking scheme.
