Luke 21:12 “But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name.
U.S. military officials have banned at least 50 Catholic chaplains from holding services on military bases this weekend because of the government shutdown.
Fox News’ Todd Starnes quoted the Archbishop of the Archdiocese for Military Services as saying in most cases Sunday mass won’t be offered to Catholic troops.
“If someone has a baptism scheduled, it won’t be celebrated,” Archbishop Timothy Broglio told Starnes.
The chaplains have been banned from volunteering to hold services and one was threatened with military discipline if he were to conduct a service. A priest at Joint Base Langley-Eustis was banned from officiating the wedding of a couple he had been counseling.
“In American history there has been no administration more anti-Catholic than the Obama administration,” Bill Donohue of the Catholic League said. “For them to deny Catholic men and women the opportunity of the sacraments and to deal with their prayerful vocations is really a stunning statement.”
