Electricity costs for residential customers is at an all time high according to a new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The report says the average price for one kilowatt hour of electricity set a record for the month of November and the seasonally adjusted electricity price index hit an all time high as well.
This November, the average price for a kilowatt hour was 13 cents, down from 13.2 in October and 13.7 in June through September. However, the cost was the most KWH for electricity in the month of November since the seasonal average began in 1978.
The seasonal index for November was 202.284 which means over the last 30 years the price of electricity has more than doubled. The baseline for the index of 100 is based on the three years 1982-1984. The index is 2.9% higher than a year ago.
The survey did note that other sources of energy such as gasoline and natural gas fell in November.
