China Closes Market Amid Bird Flu Concerns

Revelation 6:7,8 NCV When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come!"8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse. Its rider was named death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill people by war, by starvation, by disease, and by the wild animals of the earth.

On the same day China admitted two more cases of the H7N9 bird flu, a report from Nanjing says government officials have closed poultry markets.

That brings the number of confirmed cases to 18 with six deaths. The World Health Organization says that 8 of the cases can be classified as “severe”.

The government earlier in the week destroyed thousands of birds found at two Shanghai poultry markets after some of the birds were found to have the virus. Officials in Nanjing said that they did not find the virus anywhere but destroyed birds as a “precaution”.

Live birds are the traditional way that poultry is sold in Chinese markets.

The WHO continues to insist there is no human-to-human transmission threat.
