Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).
The Islamist leader of Bangladesh has been convicted on multiple charges related to the country’s 1971 war with Pakistan.
Ghulam Azam, 90, was sentenced to 90 years in prison for convictions related to mass killings and mass rapes during the war. Azam was leader of the Islamist Jamaat-e-Islami party from 1969 to 2000.
Islamic extremists connected to Jamaat-e-Islami fought with police before and after the verdict.
Azam had been facing 60 charges but was ultimately convicted on only five. He was accused of being one of the leaders and organizers of militia that carried out war crimes.
The prosecution had been seeking the death penalty. The 90-year sentence is essentially life in prison for the elderly Azam.
The conviction is the fifth against current and former party leaders. Islamists have killed over 100 people in violence after convictions of party leaders.
