Revelation 6:5,6 NCV When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse, and its rider held a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard something that sounded like a voice coming from the middle of the four living creatures. The voice said, "A quart of wheat for a day's pay, and three quarts of barley for a day's pay, and do not damage the olive oil and wine!"
In an attempt to control the runaway inflation crippling the country, Argentina has announced the government is banning any increases in the price of groceries.
A group that represents two thirds of the supermarkets in the nation agreed to freeze prices until at least April 1. The government has set up a hotline, asking citizens to keep their receipts and call the government if they notice any groceries have gone up in price.
The news comes after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) released a statement that Argentina was to be censured because they were releasing inaccurate financial and economic data to the world markets. For example, the Argentinian government claims inflation is 11% but world economists say the number is at least double the government figure.
Economists say it’s very likely the inflation rate could reach 30% before the end of 2013.
The censure means that unless Argentina makes significant changes to improve the quality of their statistics, they will no longer be able to participate with the IMF.
Economy Minister Hernan Lorenzino said he will bring a new inflation measure by the end of the year to keep from being removed from the IMF.
I have been in Mendoza Argentina since last September and I can attest that the inflation of prices since that time has been over 10% in just the time I have been here. And the prices keep raising on what feels now a weekly basis. It will be interesting to see what the grocery price freeze will do…will it bring eggs back to being available at the store? Or will more products start disappearing from the shelves….hum.
