Al-Qaeda Leader Killed In Yemen

Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).

<blockquote>“Hardly a day goes by when our senses are not bludgeoned by some new outbreak of terrorism in the Middle East.  Despite our best efforts at making and keeping the peace, political, economic, and religious tensions often lead to unrest, violence, and riots.”

The second in command of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has been killed in an operation lead by Yemeni government forces.

Said al-Shihri, a Saudi Arabian national released by the US from Guantanamo Bay in 2007, was reportedly killed by a strike from a US drone along with six other terrorists. The Yemeni government has been fighting Al-Qaeda Islamist militants in the southern part of the country for the past few months.

Analysts say if the death of al-Shihri is confirmed it could be a major blow to the Al-Qaeda backed extremists attempting to overthrow the government.

Al-Qaeda Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) was formed when Al-Qaeda Yemen and Saudi Arabia combined forces. It’s currently lead by Nasser Abdul Karim al-Wuhayshi after Saudi forces killed two previous leaders. Al-Shihri joined the group after being released to Saudi Arabia for “rehabilitation” in 2009.
