A large earthquake struck off the coast of Puerto El Triunfo, El Salvador shaking hundreds of miles of coastline.
The quake centered just over 110 km from the coast minimizing the possibility of catastrophic damage. Several cities such as Usulutan, La Union and Chinandega felt significant shaking but no major damage.
The quake was not shallow enough to cause a tsumani.
The earthquake is positioned on the “Pacific Ring Of Fire” which also had multiple quakes over the weekend along the US West Coast and Mexican coast. Brawley, California suffered 5 quakes between 2.5 and 3.8 throughout the day Monday. Alaska, Arizona and Nevada also had quakes Monday.
