Many teachers of Bible prophecy believe that the antichrist himself will suffer a fatal head wound, but if you look at the scripture carefully, you can easily get a different impression: “One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed” (13:3, niv).
Remember, John saw the Beast rising out of the sea, which probably means rising from many peoples. But John used the term “beast” in several ways in Revelation, sometimes talking about the antichrist and at other times talking about the antichrist system, the one-world government system that is against God. Here, I believe the latter is the more correct understanding, that is, this beast is the antichrist system. This one-world government will have ten horns, seven heads, and ten diadems (13:1).
Revelation 17:12–13 tells us that the ten horns are ten kings who will receive power with the Beast for a relatively short time, and their sole purpose is to give their power to the Beast. The seven heads, according to Revelation 17:9–10, are seven mountains on which the harlot rides and seven kings: “Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; and when he comes, he must remain a little while.”
The Bible says, “One of the heads”—that is, one of the antichrist system’s leaders will receive a wound, not necessarily a wound in the head. He could be wounded in any part of his body. So when you see a world leader wounded, don’t discount the event because the wound is not to his head. Remember, John said, “I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed” (13:3); he could mean that any one of the individual leaders aligned with the antichrist system will suffer a fatal wound and be healed. Regardless, the miraculous recovery from this wound will pave the way to the antichrist’s ascendency in the public arena.
There’s another intriguing thought to consider about the antichrist. While most prophecy teachers have deduced that the antichrist will spring from the revived Roman Empire or the ten Islamic nations that surround Israel, John Shorey’s suggestion that the ten heads may be regions poses another possibility. If the leader of the United States is one of the “heads” of the antichrist system prior to the fatal head wound, it would be possible for the U.S. president to eventually become the leader of Babylon, the antichrist system.
Regardless, the response of the world to this miraculous healing is very significant. Ironically, the world will worship, not the Lord, but Satan as a result of the wounded head being healed. Worship is the one thing Satan has always wanted, and on that day he will surely have it. In Revelation 13:4, John told us, “They worshiped the beast, saying ‘Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?’ ”
A similar phrase was used to honor God after the Israelites escaped Pharaoh’s army and the Egyptians were destroyed in the Red Sea. The song of deliverance included statements such as, “Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders?” (Exodus 15:11). Satan seems to take special pleasure in hijacking God’s glory, and the devil is the ultimate counterfeiter.
Dan 7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
Dan 7:26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
Dan 7:27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
He who thinks to change the times and laws of God, is not God. God cannot change, he is the same today, as yesterday as tomorrow…
The God of Mount Sinai, made his law the Government for the Universe. The 7th Commandment makes me realize, Jesus is My Bridegroom, and I do not want to think to change the times and laws of Jesus. He ratified the Government of God, his father, with his blood. I have to judge between the angels..Michael or Lucifer. And Lucifer is the Destroyer in Revelation 9:11 What choice is that
Pastor Jim,
You make a very interesting statement at the very END of this article; that being, with you saying, “Satan seems to take special pleasure in hijacking God’s glory, and the devil is the ultimate counterfeiter”.
You’re absolutely right!! And incidentally, that has ALWAYS been the wicked “history” of Man himself, right from the very BEGINNING of the Human Race; with Adam & Eve being enticed by Satan himself, to “eat” off of the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”; so as to – as Satan himself always wanted anyway – to BE LIKE the “Most High God”. That is, with Satan wanting to be “omni-scient” AND “omni-potent”; OR, to say, with Man, after the likes of Satan, wanting to be “all-knowing” AND “all-powerful” – like God Almighty; and even MORE so, than God Himself.
From the Biblical “Nimrod” of Genesis 10 & 11, down to the upcoming “Anti-Christ”; World History has always been (and continues to be) REPLETE with accounts of power-hungry individuals (such as Alexander, Caesar, and Hitler) who greatly “lusted” for, or voraciously thirsted after – and indeed pursued – great WEALTH and POWER; robbing, plundering, and killing, so as to “hoard up” as MUCH as they possible can for themselves – MONEY, MATERIAL THINGS, and POWER; because of THAT ancient wicked desire, from Satan and Man; to, again, “BE LIKE the MOST HIGH GOD”!!
So yes, Pastor Jim, just as you already stated about Satan in this article; that LIKEWISE, the Anti-Christ “[will] take special PLEASURE in hijacking God’s glory, and [he will be] the Ultimate Counterfeiter” [or Satan’s very incarnation, down here on Planet Earth – before the REAL “Christ” or “Messiah” actually comes down to Earth, that being “Jesus of Nazareth” himself, from Heaven].
