Changes that can Save Your Life in 2014

From 1946 to 1964, more than 76 million babies were born in the U.S., part of the generation known as the “Baby Boomers.”  This is my generation, and I have a heart for them.  Many things came out of the era of the 60’s and 70’s… most of them not good, and many of them detrimental to our health.

With the New Year dawning, January is the time of year that a lot of people make decisions to pursue a healthier lifestyle.  If you know anything about Jim and me, we are all about healthy living and healthy choices, especially in nutrition.  But, we weren’t always this way, and we can truthfully say that now we have great compassion for others who are dealing with the effects of bad choices they made along life’s path.

We hope to inspire others to get started on this healthy course that we’re on now.  It’s a perfect time for you to make a change!  In fact, with all of the fabulous nutritional breakthroughs we have been given through Food for Health and others, getting healthy in 2014 is very achievable!  The greatest challenge is just getting started!

Healthy choices in nutrition is something that all of us can learn to make.  It’s not too late for you to learn, no matter what your age!  We may have grown up in the Baby Boomer generation (if you’re around my age) but we don’t have to live by what we learned in a very self-centered and self-indulgent period.  We actually thought the indulgences would never catch up to us – but boy were we wrong!  Sin always catches up to you, and you often have the scars to prove it, be they emotional, spiritual or physical.

The good news is that Jesus can and will help you recover that time and those losses.  Joel 2:25 says, “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm…” That’s a beautiful promise, one that I have leaned on and trusted God for.

You can too.

You all know that I am very transparent and I talk about things most people won’t.  Today, I want to talk to you about something very serious that most people refuse to discuss, especially those who are my age and older.  But it’s time to talk about things that we need to talk about – and confront the health issues that are the fallout from not living for God in a society that promotes ‘wild and crazy’ behavior.

It’s no secret and I’ve discussed it on the air many times, but I have a serious health challenge with Hepatitis C that I’ve had since my early 20’s.  This condition is the result of the ‘wild and crazy’ years of the 60’s and 70’s.  I’m not proud of the fact that I lived a life of ‘sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll’ but it happened, and God brought me out of all that over 25 years ago.  If you read my book, “More Than I Could Ever Ask,” the entire story is there to help inspire others not to do what I did – and God has used my testimony in amazing ways to help people all over the world.

But, as I said, the fallout of ‘wild and crazy’ living is something I live with today, and just so you understand why I’m talking about it now… so do untold millions of others.

My faith in God says that He can supernaturally heal me at any moment.  I believe in healing and I know that God can!  But I also know that more often, God works with you as you exercise your faith AND do what you know to do – in other words, WORK to be healed.

Some scriptural background for what I am saying:

James 2:14-16 says, “What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?  If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?  Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

Please meditate on what I’ve said this week, and next week I’m going to share with you some of the most astounding ways that God has provided a path towards healing for me – and for you – if you get started now!
