We have heard from quite a few people who are concerned about how to prepare when their finances are very tight. Prepping can seem like it’s beyond your reach, but don’t give up; where there’s a will there’s a way! Jim and I understand this very well and we’re not insensitive to the plight of those who are challenged by a limited income.
Anyone who has read my book, “More Than I Could Ever Ask” knows that there was a time when I actually shined shoes at the airport to make ends meet and to provide for myself when I was in full-time ministry in Phoenix. People may say, “oh you poor thing,” but I’m not looking for sympathy and I didn’t feel disadvantaged even then. I was so in love with Jesus and happy to do whatever it took to provide for my needs and stay in ministry.
Most of you are familiar with Jim’s situation and how he lost it all and had no income for quite some time. He learned how to live with very little. In fact, when we met and married within a very short time, neither of us had anything at all! We lived in one room at the Dream Center in Los Angeles and trusted God for the basics of life. Those were some of the most precious times of our lives!
While financial challenges can be limiting, there is always something you can do, however small, towards the goal of being prepared for crises. When you can’t do a lot, your little will multiply itself and you will find that your effort pays off in the long run. God knows and is aware of every situation, and He will help you and guide you in what to do!
We know that prices are rising on just about everything from gas to utilities, and it can be hard to find anything to put towards your preps. But, you can do it. The main hurdle for most people is just getting started!
Dr. Paul Williams made an excellent suggestion the other day on the show and I wanted to pass it along to you. He suggested that several people, or a group of people, get together and pool their finances to get great deals and then share their cache. Doesn’t that sound like a good way to multiply your advantage? Networking with others will be more and more practical as we enter difficult times ahead.
Just do it! You can do something! When you make an effort and start you’ll be surprised at how the creative juices begin to flow and you begin to think outside the box. Don’t let prepping become a daunting task – break it down into very small steps and get started! You can do it!
James 2:14-16 says, “What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”
I am in the same boat as far as hubby won’t watch the show and is cynical about the end times being here. Quite disappointing.
Lori,
My husband has retired and I’m still working and yes it is sacrifices we’re making in order to prep. We’ve ordered several of the last foods when they were $500 plus we have bought some of everything that comes to mind..God is blessing us to continue. My husband wasn’t onboard at first so I had to get other preppers to order for me but when I ran out of hiding places I came clean with him, now he has added on to our storage building, buying up gas, water, more foods you name it. I can rest knowing I’m not keeping this secret any longer. He’s not saved but I’m still speaking salvation to his spirit yet he watches you and Jim daily and records it for me when working. We love you all!
