Gideons Blocked From Air Force Base

Mark 13:13 “You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.”

Air Force officials have banned Gideon volunteers from giving Bibles to new recruits at Maxwell Air Force Base.

Gideon’s volunteer Michael Fredenburg told Fox News they were told by base officials to “get their Bibles out.”

The public affairs officer for Military Entrance Processing Command told Fox News that the Gideon’s claim was not “entirely” true.  Gaylan Johnson said that the Gideons have been banned from standing at a table and speaking with anyone who is a recruit.  They will still be able to put materials on a table.

The Gideons had been meeting recruits and handing out Bibles for over a decade.  Four days a week the Gideons would stand by a table, shaking the hands of those who had just enlisted and offering them a pocket-sized Bible.

Johnson told Fox that the Gideons are no longer allowed to be within the building to speak to anyone.  Johnson is claiming that this is a new command-wide policy against any organization that is not a member of the Federal Government.

  1. Trying to eradicate the name, “Jesus Christ”, & rid those connected with His name, seem to be the ultimate goal of the enemy of God. It has gone on ever since Christ came in human form & returned to heaven. It’s never gone away. These days in our U.S. there’s extra pressure to remove Him from sight & sound. We are learning to hold fast to the faith, “buckle down the hatch”, through prayer allow the Holy Spirit to give us creative ways of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Men & women, boys & girls of all ages and life stages, need that peace that only Christ can give, especially for all in Military including Chaplains. After all, it’s His Work through us that helps build His Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it! Keep the Faith! HE DOES KEEP HIS WORD. Our Living God of Heaven & Earth is still more powerful than all gods put together! Watch for His display of reactions as we Christians sincerely call on Him to “Help , SAVE US from our enemies.”

  2. The N.T. the Gideons gave me when I enlisted gave me much peace and comfort. I love my country, but I do not think serving a military that makes the Most High God its enemy smart or safe……….

  3. The Bible is true..this is only an excuse to stop the people who are not following Jesus Gospel like the idolaters who have people or things as their “god”

  4. This is like watching a train wreck. As the wheels leave the track, you want to look away because you can’t at that moment do anything about it. But you can’t look away.
I was in the Air Force for decades. I noticed a distinct change as early as Desert Shield/Desert Storm. The Chaplains had to watch out in the bases set up in Saudi Arabia so as to not offend the Saudi government until the victory over Sadam was declared for “Stormin Norman”
Chaplains and people of faith that were outspoken were beginning to appear as more radical or overly “religious”. this then surfaced stateside gradually.
Muslims and atheists began complaining about exclusion and being offended by people of faith.
We need to be more outspoken and be offended ourselves that our christian faith and Jesus is being treated disgracefully.
