Natural Causes Ruled Out In Colorado Wildfire

El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa said that officials have been able to rule out lightning as the cause of the massive wildfire that has destroyed thousands of acres of woods and hundreds of homes.

Maketa said police are investigating whether or not the fire was intentionally started or an accident. He also announced that a man and woman were found dead in the garage of one of the destroyed homes.

The fire in El Paso County has burned 15,500 acres and destroyed 482 homes and is considered 65% contained.

A second fire that threatened the world’s highest suspension bridge ended up sparing the landmark but destroyed most of the state park surrounding it. Officials said that over 3,200 acres have been burned and all but two structures at Royal Gorge Bridge & Park were burned to the ground.

Multiple other wildfires have popped up around the state, all sparked by lightning.
