According to information found in the raid, the terrorist group had been planning a massive Easter Sunday attack on Christians in the Kano area. Residents reported gunshots and explosions. One soldier died in the assault and a potential homicide bomber was caught in a car filled with explosives.
“This operation was conducted following a tip-off from our intelligence,” military spokesman Illiyasu Abbah told Reuters.
Kano has been a launching point of multiple Boko Haram attacks on Christians. A homicide bombing on March 19th aimed at Christians left more than 20 dead.
