Mauritius Flooding Kills 11

Luke 21:25,26 NLT “And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken.”

Hard rain caused severe flooding in the Mauritian capital city of Port Louis on Saturday killing at least 11 and leaving thousands homeless.

Eight of the dead were caught in underground areas when the flood waters rose too rapidly for officials to evacuate threatened areas.

According to meterologists, almost a month’s rain fell on the capital in an hour. The flooding has paralyzed the capital city.

A resident told the BBC that roads are blocked and that mud is everywhere in the city. She said that local authorities sent out no warnings and if it wasn’t for residents protecting each other the death toll would have been significantly higher.

Residents were advised to stay home until the storms pass.
