Uganda’s President Publicly Repents

2 Chronicles 7:14 Then if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, if they will pray and seek me and stop their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven. I will forgive their sin, and I will heal their land.

In a surprise speech to the National Jubilee Prayers in Namboole, Uganda, President Yoweri Museveni repented of his personal sins and the sins of the nation.

“I stand here today to close the evil past and especially in the last 50 years of our national leadership history and at the threshold of a new dispensation in the life of this nation,” Museveni said. “ I stand here on my own behalf and on behalf of my predecessors to repent. We ask for your forgiveness.”

The President went on to repent of sins ranging from laziness and indifference to corruption and bribery. He also repented of the idolatry and witchcraft that is pervasive in Uganda.

“All the nations we read about in the Bible were healed when their leaders repented and acknowledged God’s supremacy,” Apostle Alex Mitala of the Uganda Pentecostal churches said. He urged all Ugandans to follow the President’s lead and turn away from sinful lives.

  1. Very, very incouraging! Pastor and his church’s prayers for their nation are taking effect. You bet, we need to continue praying the prayer taught in Timothy,(I think) about praying first for our national leaders, and all the remaining leaders so that we can live peacefully lives. Our Bible study this week is Isaiah 40 plus, where God is telling the good news of His plans to restore Judah in their land after their suffering in Babylon. I’m praying…”Help God, please come to our rescue as you did for Judah.”

  2. Praise God for President of Ugandas remorse, repentance and God. I pray the same for Pres.Obama and U.S. according to Matt.19:26, Mark 11:23,24; and Romans 4:17. Join me???PLEASE. “Where 2 0r more are gathered……Marilyn
