Weather Impacts UK Harvest; Raises Food Prices

Rev 6:5,6 NCV When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse, and its rider held a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard something that sounded like a voice coming from the middle of the four living creatures. The voice said, "A quart of wheat for a day's pay, and three quarts of barley for a day's pay, and do not damage the olive oil and wine!"

“Although the United States remains the breadbasket of the world, a drought, heat wave, or changing weather patterns in the U.S, could have devastating effects throughout the global food supply.”

-Jim Bakker in “Prosperity and the Coming Apocalypse”

The summer of unusually wet weather has created a large impact on British crops that is going to lead to heavy increases in food prices.

The National Farmers Union announced that wheat yields in the country are down almost 15% lower than the country’s five-year average. The British Retail Consortium said that food prices, already high due to the drought in the U.S. and a heatwave in Russia, which lowered corn and wheat production.

The weather also decreased the site of the UK’s fruit and vegetable crops.

Government officials reported that this summer, defined as June, July and August, was the wettest since they began keeping records in 1912. A drought during the Spring followed by the severely wet weather was the driving factor in crop failures.
