At least 30 Syrian civilians who had been lined up to put gas in their cars were killed when a government aircraft bombed the gas station.

Rebel forces told the BBC that civilians had been lined up for gas and diesel fuel when the aircraft dropped a barrel of explosives. The station, 20 miles from the Syria/Turkey border, was the only operating gas station in the region.

Seventy people were also injured in the attack.

The Syrian air force has been dropping crudely made bombs of explosives stuffed inside barrels. The bombs have been surprisingly effective in their destructive power according to rebel forces.

In another incident, a military helicopter crashed after bumping a commercial airliner. The rotor of the helicopter clipped the tail of a Syrian Arab Airlines plane with 200 passengers and crew. The plane made a safe landing at the Damascus International Airport.
